Any
reason for practicing yoga is a good reason.
"Enhancing flexibility and releasing stress are as
noble a purpose for performing yoga as the awakening of spirituality. This
is the great gift of yoga – it serves and nourishes us at every level of our
being and spontaneously contributes to greater well being in all domains of
life. Yoga will help you discover gifts within yourself that have remained
unopened since your childhood – gifts of peace, harmony, laughter, and
love." The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga by Drs. Deepak
Chopra & David Simon
This quote made my heart sing. I welcome you to
participate in my classes and workshops this season. As a practice of
awareness, a celebration of being in a body, an invitation to be light
hearted and clear minded, yoga offers us a path of discovery, healing, joy
and ultimately, love.
I hope you are inspired to join a group class,
experience a private session with me, and or delight in the rich learning of
a workshop setting.

Awakening Your
Spine
The Path Yoga Centre
2083 Alma Street ~ Suite 240
Using a dense foam rubber strip along your
spinal column, this workshop blends breath, therapeutic yoga and hatha yoga.
Breathing inquiries invite expansion from the inside as we explore a felt
experience of the spinal vertebrae by using the strip in various vertical
and horizontal positions on the spinal column. A direct felt experience of
your bones promotes a profound release into gravity allowing muscular
tension to melt.
This workshop includes hatha yoga sequences
as well as practical anatomical appreciations and is highly beneficial for
those with chronic shoulder and neck discomfort and/or low back tension. In
understanding and feeling your own anatomy an inner alignment awakens to
guide you on your mat and in your life. This work gets results and supports
your heart opening to love with grace.
A testimonial:
"My experience with Sharon and the strip has been nothing short of
miraculous. As a writer and a practitioner, my work involves long periods of
sitting. The strip has saved me from prior bouts of back, neck, and shoulder
pain. In fact, I just travelled nationwide for six months on a book tour
with my strip. I keep it close at hand and use it regularly. In just 15 or
20 minutes I get amazing results. I fondly refer to it as my portable
chiropractor!" Debra Greene, Ph.D. Author of Endless Energy: The Essential
Guide to Energy Health
This season enhances our connection to
gravity, inviting the experience of letting go. Shed your tension by
learning to connect to your bones and let down into the ground of our
supporting earth below. This workshop is an invitation to relax deeply and
In-joy your body! Hope you can participate.

Into
Wholeness
Yoga & Sacred Sound
Please arrive 15 minutes early.
Into Wholeness will integrate a slow hatha
yoga practice with a deep listening journey using Quartz Crystal Bowls,
Tibetan Bells and Bowls, Gongs from many cultures, Chimes and Sacred
instruments such as the Japanese Shakuhachi flute, the Mbira from Zimbawe,
and the Andean Ocarina.
We will spiral from gentle breathing
inquiries into an ocean of sound, moving through a practice of postures to
relax the body, open the heart, and ease the mind. Traversing inner
landscapes to the shores of peace, this intentional use of sacred sound
dispels density in the body and invokes a state of tranquility and
alertness.

Restorative Yoga
7:30pm Thursdays
Judith Hanson Lasater, the grandmother of
restorative practice shares: “The practice of yoga is fundamentally an act
of kindness towards oneself. During deep relaxation, all the organ systems
of the body are benefited, and a few of the measurable results of deep
relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure, serum triglycerides and
blood sugar levels in the blood, the increase of “good cholesterol” levels,
as well as improvement in digestion, fertility, elimination, the reduction
of muscle tension, insomnia and generalized fatigue.
Restorative yoga is a remedy for the speed and chaos of contemporary life.
Through a series of supported postures held for 3-5 minutes, we slow down,
soften into essential breath, unravel tension and let the body's
intelligence guide you into well spring of peace and joy within.
- Restorative Yoga - The Art of Letting Go
- 8 Week Course: $ 152.32
- Thursday Evenings from 7:30pm-9pm
October 6th through December 8th

Tensegrity & Vijnana
5:30pm Thursdays
Create harmonic ease from the
inside out, as you learn a sequence of movements that cultivate core
connection and stability. Developed by Gioia Irwin, the tensegrity series
uses a dowel and a wooden block placed under the pelvis, to challenge
on-going connection to the abdominal core and the spinal core.
The movements are fluid, and
in time create an even tone throughout the body, by healing restrictions in
the myofacial network. After the tensegrity series, we will transition into
a Vijnana vinyasa, a vigorous physical flow, supported by breath and the
awakened felt sense of centre. Vijnana is a sanskrit word meaning
intelligence; this practice is an exquisite synergy of serenity and
vitalization.
